Geotechnical Engineering Department Manager

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to help lead the Geotechnical Department in the telecommunication and commercial industries. Positional responsibilities, further detailed below, include but are not limited to various technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with turnkey engineering projects. This position will require a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the geotechnical engineering field, demonstrated experience performing geotechnical investigations and analysis, and experience managing engineering teams. Career and/or educational experience establishing a thorough familiarity of geotechnical investigations, as well as, design and analysis of telecommunications structures and/or commercial developments is required.

The Geotechnical Department Manager provides management, leadership, mentoring and empowerment to all employees within the geotechnical department, promoting teamwork and prioritizing resources across teams and projects to ensure department profitability and growth. They are responsible for coordinating with the Vice President to develop technical and operational approaches for production processes, implementing these procedures, and ensuring the efficiency and quality of departmental deliverables. The Geotechnical Department Manager will assist the Director and/or Vice President in developing and managing systems that track departmental production and maximize productivity.

The Geotechnical Department Manager is responsible for assisting the Director and/or Vice President in recruiting, managing, and retaining department personnel, including ensuring that their team has the right processes and tools to be successful. Additionally, they will be responsible for assisting the Director and/or Vice President with the oversight of technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with departmental projects. Anticipated tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of geotechnical production, including the review and further development of standard operating procedures for department deliverables
  • Accountable for daily performance of departmental production, including technical accuracy and pacing
  • Effectively communicate departmental production expectations and track departmental/individual progress towards productivity goals
  • Assist the Director and/or Vice President in providing technical oversight and quality control of all departmental deliverables, providing coaching/training as necessary to improve delivered product, and serving as one of the lead technical resources for junior engineers
  • Review/compile department deliverables, including but not limited to geotechnical investigations, supplemental geotechnical reviews, and foundation installation inspections
  • Assist the Director and/or Vice President in reviewing production costs, product quality, and modifies production processes to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the geotechnical department
  • Work in concert with other discipline leads to improve product quality through interdepartmental communication and sharing of technical knowledge
  • Promote client revenue growth by working collaboratively across business (technical) lines to understand client needs and facilitate turn-key service offerings
  • Work with Director, Vice President and Executive Team to establish, retain, and grow client relationships; attending client meetings and/or business development functions as necessary
  • Recruit and retain department personnel through the promotion of company culture

Civil Engineer II / III

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various civil-site engineering and site planning tasks, including but not limited to spatial infrastructure layout, grading plans, roadway plan and profile, utility layout and coordination, and erosion control typically associated with telecommunication sites and small commercial site development plans. The ability to manage a project from feasibility assessment through the issuance of a building permit, including correspondence with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and client representatives is required. Additionally, experience and/or knowledge of general grading, stormwater design principles, and an ability to evaluate the relationship between civil infrastructure and grading/topography, drainage patterns, geologic conditions, and erosion is required.

The selected individual will be expected lead projects from commencement to completion, including the ability to:

  • Develop site plans for telecommunication and small commercial developments including overall site layouts, grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, plan and elevation views, utility plans, etc.
  • Manage civil-site development projects from commencement through final permit approval with little to no supervision
  • Perform computer-aided design of all site development related components including but not limited to grading, utilities, spatial layout of infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, landscaping, and stormwater to produce plans in accordance with various standards and criteria
  • Review and QA/QC of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff
  • Assist younger engineers and drafters regarding site development design and drafting principles

Geotechnical Engineer III

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various geotechnical engineering services. These services include but are not limited to various technical evaluations as well as project management/administrative support services associated with the practice of geotechnical engineering. This position will require six (6) to ten (10) years of experience within the geotechnical or similar engineering field. Experience with deep and shallow foundations, laboratory soil analyses, and technical reports issuance with limited supervision is required.

Under the supervision of senior engineering professionals, the selected individual will be expected to apply strong analytical skills in areas of geotechnical engineering across multiple markets, including the commercial and telecommunications industries. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with geotechnical drilling subcontractors to complete the field aspect of a geotechnical investigation
  • Perform soil/rock classifications and laboratory analysis for use in geotechnical engineering analysis across multiple markets, including the commercial and telecommunications industries
  • Perform field resistivity testing; foundation and foundation modification installation monitoring and inspection; hand auger and dynamic cone penetrometer testing; and field logging of soils (when necessary)
  • Complete geotechnical engineering calculations to determine the capacity of existing foundations or for the use in the design of new foundation elements, pavements, earth retention systems, etc
  • Consult with related disciplines, both internally and externally, during and after analysis and report preparation phases
  • Complete report and supporting document preparation and compilation (for all technical analyses)
  • Review reports and supporting documents completed by other geotechnical engineers
  • Provide technical support to other geotechnical engineers

Structural Engineer II/III

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various structural engineering analysis and design services, as part of our Structural Engineering Department located in Raleigh, NC. The selected individual will perform various structural engineering design/analysis tasks as well as serve as the primary liaison to our infrastructure inspections department regarding cross-discipline structural reporting.

This position is responsible for performing design, computations, and evaluations generally associated with tower structures and other aspects of the structural engineering discipline focused in the wireless telecommunications industry. The position will mesh field exposure to real-world construction and field- related issues with 2-D and 3-D structural design practices of tower infrastructure. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Structural analysis and design utilizing manual calculations, commercially available software, and in-house tools.
  • Programming in-house tools for analysis / design, calculation and report automation.
  • Providing CAD support for the preparation of structural design drawings or inspection related services.
  • Coordination with field personnel for structural mapping and inspection projects.
  • Preparation of engineering reports related to the inspection, condition, structural design, structural analysis, or structural modification of tower infrastructure
  • Review of jurisdictional and/or local governing agency requirements for structural analyses, design and construction.
  • Review and QA/QC of technical reports completed by other engineering and technical staff.
  • Communication with clients on design needs and production deadlines, under the direction of a Manager or an associated project lead.
  • Provide training and guidance to CAD and other structural engineering staff/personnel

CAD Department Manager (Structural Focus)

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to be responsible for managing all aspects of the CAD department, which provides computer-aided drafting support to multiple departments, primarily in the telecom vertical. The selected individual is expected to provide oversight of departmental personnel/manpower management, deliverable quality and schedule adherence, development of department protocols, development of standard technical procedures and tools, and collaboration efforts between CAD and technical leaders from supported departments. The CAD manager is also expected to have an in-depth knowledge of typical structural engineering, infrastructure inspection, and A&E deliverables in the wireless telecommunications industry. This experience should include technical knowledge of tower structural components, connections, general field inspection and mapping procedures, and components of typical tower and ground telecommunication equipment configurations.

The CAD Department Manager coordinates and supervises all assigned departmental tasks, including manpower, workload distribution, project schedule oversight, and quality adherence. This position is responsible for coordinating with the internal technical committee to develop CAD-related technical and operational approaches, including data collection protocols, designed to integrate field and office production procedures to produce a more efficient overall deliverable process. They will be requested to hire and retain staff as necessary for the successful completion of these goals.

Operating independently with minimal supervision, the candidate will be responsible for performing CAD related tasks including but not limited to

  • Develop and implement advanced CAD design procedures, including dynamic blocks, block attributes, etc. to improve CAD cycle times and overall deliverable efficiency/quality
  • Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SolidWorks) to create and revise drawings for infrastructure-related engineering projects, focusing on wireless telecommunication infrastructure
  • Improve efficiency of deliverable development process by evaluating current CAD, engineering-to-CAD, and field-to-CAD communication processes and modifying procedures as necessary
  • Develop/Incorporate CAD standards for company production processes
  • Set up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings
  • Regularly resolve coordination issues between field teams and CAD production, engineering and CAD production
  • Consult with technical leads and other department staff as necessary to refine CAD production processes

Delta Oaks Group is seeking individuals to perform tower and foundation inspection services in the telecommunication vertical. These services include but are not limited to various tower structural, maintenance, construction and foundation inspections. Career and/or educational experience associated with gathering telecommunication structure field data and the inspection methodology required to obtain such data is a plus.


This position is responsible for gathering structural field data for telecommunication structures under the direction of the Compliance Manager and Director. The selected individual(s) will be required to perform inspections as a part of a two-person crew with little supervision. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Ascending telecommunication structures (typically ranging from 10 feet to in-excess of 300 feet of height) to perform structural mappings, maintenance inspections and construction inspections
  • Performing foundation investigations for buried concrete elements to include non-destructive testing, physical probing, hand augering and hand excavation
  • Successfully complete and maintain the required training and certifications to adhere to all government, industry and company standards; including all applicable safety requirements
  • Developing a working knowledge and thorough familiarity with codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
  • Adhere to all government, industry and safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work in two-person teams independently with limited supervision
  • Prepare drawings and field sketches

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual will be responsible for assisting in the completion of various civil-site design, environmental, hydrologic/hydraulic, and erosion control related tasks including on-site field inspections; interpretation and evaluation of stormwater, erosion control, and earthwork related issues; site remediation design; rawland civil-site design, co-location telecommunication facility design, environmental report production, and project management coordination of designed projects.

Working as part of a team under the direct supervision of a project manager or project engineer, the candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, evaluations, computations, and designs generally associated with civil-site engineering discipline, including but not limited to:

  • Completing spatial layout of telecommunication facilities based on governing municipality zoning requirements
  • Completing and optimizing design of telecommunication facilities from an earthwork, drainage, spatial, construction feasibility, and cost-efficiency perspective
  • Completing stormwater calculations typically associated with roadway drainage systems
  • Performing site design tasks including roadway plan and profile, grading, erosion control, and permitting
  • Preparing and coordinating environmental related services such as Phase I ESAs and NEPAs, including SHPO/THPO consultation, TCNS Public Notifications, etc.

Working as part of a team under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, the selected individual will be responsible for performing modeling, analysis and drafting generally associated with structures in the telecommunications industry, including but not limited to:

  • Structural analysis utilizing commercially available programs and in-house tools to predict how structures will react under varying loading conditions
  • Acquiring, through in-house training and support, technical knowledge of structural members and connections, and infrastructure configurations

This position will require experience in the structural engineering/inspections field and demonstrated experience performing inspections of telecommunication infrastructure. Career and/or educational experience should establish a familiarity of pre-requisite data requirements for telecommunications structures and experience gathering and/or leading teams in the field aspects of inspection methodology required to obtain such data.

The Project Manager will assist department management with the day to day aspects of field operations and technical document production. This position is responsible for report deliverable compilation, technical data review and assisting with the execution of department protocols, field personnel management and training. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with the project coordinator to proactively track field work completion status, taking action as schedule expectations dictate
  • Assist with tracking field crew performance per company expectations, addressing and escalating issues as required
  • Compile/review department deliverable reports, including, but not limited to TIA Inspections, Tower Mappings, Mount Mappings, Foundation Mappings & Post Construction/Modification Inspections
  • Serve as a resource for field crews, responding to inspector queries, issues & concerns

Delta Oaks Group is seeking individuals to manage projects and personnel for the Anchor Rod Corrosion Investigation and Protection Program in the telecommunication vertical. Positional responsibilities include project management, technical & safety evaluations, client relations, and supervision of field personnel. This position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, construction, or engineering fields with demonstrated experience in machine excavator operation; OSHA excavation, benching & shoring techniques, and personnel management.

The Project Manager will be required to assist with the day to day aspects of the Anchor Rod Corrosion Investigation and Protection Program, supervise & lead field crews, and provide efficient and successful execution of each specific project scope of work. This position is responsible for coordinating with and assisting the Field Operations Manager with operational approaches for field and office procedures, implementing these procedures, and ensuring all associated department production goals (schedule, capacity and quality) are realized. He/She will be responsible to assist with training and retaining staff for the successful completion of these goals.

The selected individual will be expected to apply construction best practices, OSHA standards, personnel management, and collaboration skills to complete Anchor Rod Corrosion Investigation and Protection scopes in the telecommunications vertical. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the management and coordination of the day to day aspects of the Anchor Rod Corrosion Investigation and Protection Program
  • Supervising field crews, including technical evaluations, schedule, pacing, and equipment usage in accordance with company guidelines and policies
