Field Engineer - Structural

This position is responsible for gathering and reporting structural field data for telecommunication structures. The selected individual(s) will be required to perform inspections as a part of a two-person team. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Ascending telecommunication structures (typically ranging from 10 feet to in-excess of 300 feet of height) to perform structural mappings, maintenance inspections and construction inspections
  • Performing foundation investigations for existing foundation elements including non- destructive testing applications
  • Prepare and review technical reports associated with tower and tower foundation structural components
  • Collaborate with internal CAD personnel regarding details of collected data and the necessary presentation of said data
  • Successfully complete and maintain the required training and certifications to adhere to all government, industry and company standards; including all applicable safety requirements
  • Developing a technical knowledge of tower components and thorough familiarity with industry codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
  • Adhere to all government, industry and company safety standards and procedures

Civil Engineer II / III

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various civil-site engineering and site planning tasks, including but not limited to spatial infrastructure layout, grading plans, roadway plan and profile, utility layout and coordination, and erosion control typically associated with small commercial site development plans. The ability to manage a project from feasibility assessment through the issuance of a building permit, including correspondence with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and client representatives is required, Additionally, experience and/or knowledge of general grading, stormwater design principles, and an ability to evaluate the relationship between civil infrastructure and grading/topography, drainage patterns, the soil matrix, and erosion is required.

The selected individual will be expected lead projects from commencement to completion, including the ability to:

  • Develop site plans for small commercial developments including overall site layouts, grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, plan and elevation views, utility plans, etc.
  • Manage site development projects from commencement through final permit approval with little to no supervision
  • Analyze stormwater/drainage systems to control erosion, stabilize infrastructure, and repair deteriorated roadway sections
  • Perform computer-aided design of all site development related components including but not limited to grading, utilities, spatial layout of infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, landscaping, and stormwater to produce plans in accordance with various standards and criteria
  • Review and QA/QC of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.
  • Assist younger engineers and drafters regarding site development design and drafting principles.

Tower Infrastructure Inspector

Delta Oaks Group is seeking individuals to perform tower and foundation inspection services in the telecommunication vertical. These services include but are not limited to various tower structural, maintenance, construction and foundation inspections. Career and/or educational experience associated with gathering telecommunication structure field data and the inspection methodology required to obtain such data is a plus.


This position is responsible for gathering structural field data for telecommunication structures under the direction of the Compliance Manager and Director. The selected individual(s) will be required to perform inspections as a part of a two-person crew with little supervision. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Ascending telecommunication structures (typically ranging from 10 feet to in-excess of 300 feet of height) to perform structural mappings, maintenance inspections and construction inspections
  • Performing foundation investigations for buried concrete elements to include non-destructive testing, physical probing, hand augering and hand excavation
  • Successfully complete and maintain the required training and certifications to adhere to all government, industry and company standards; including all applicable safety requirements
  • Developing a working knowledge and thorough familiarity with codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
  • Adhere to all government, industry and safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work in two-person teams independently with limited supervision
  • Prepare drawings and field sketches
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and professional demeanor while interacting with clients, co-workers, landowners, client representatives and regulatory & safety officials

A&E/Civil Engineering Project Designer/CAD Technician

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to assist in the completion of various civil engineering/A&E related tasks associated with the telecommunications and commercial industry, including on-site field inspections.

Working as part of a team under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, the selected individual will be responsible for performing drafting and design generally associated with civil engineering and A&E services in multiple industries, including but not limited to:

  • Layout and draw CAD schematic, orthographic, and other views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and systems of various telecom and civil infrastructure
  • Layout and draw CAD based plans for civil engineering projects encompassing road, utilities, grading, erosion and sediment control, and other improvements
  • Design site drawings from templates, existing files or hand sketches complying with industry and company standards.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for telecommunications/civil specifications using computer-assisted drafting (AutoCAD) equipment.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies and/or resolve construction/permitting/zoning issues.
  • Perform inspections/audits and related functions at telecommunications sites with limited supervision.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, governing agency personnel, and other project stakeholders to determine various project specifics.
  • Communicate with clients on design needs and production deadlines, under the supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Communicate with supervisor on job-related issues.
  • Research travel arrangements for out-of-town trips.
  • Coordinate with and consult others to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
  • Help develop and maintain AutoCAD standards and adhere to department protocol for drawing setup, publishing, and record keeping.

 

Director of Geotechnical Engineering

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to lead the Geotechnical Department in the telecommunication and commercial industries. Positional responsibilities, further detailed below, include but are not limited to various technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with turnkey engineering projects. This position will require a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the geotechnical engineering field, demonstrated experience performing geotechnical investigations and analysis, and experience managing engineering teams. Career and/or educational experience establishing a thorough familiarity of geotechnical investigations, as well as, design and analysis of telecommunications structures and commercial developments is required.

The Geotechnical Director provides management, leadership, mentoring and empowerment to all employees within the geotechnical department, promoting teamwork and prioritizing resources across teams and projects to ensure department profitability and growth.  He/She is responsible for coordinating with the Vice President to develop technical and operational approaches for production processes, implementing these procedures, and ensuring the efficiency and quality of departmental deliverables. The Director should also be adept at developing and managing systems that track departmental production, working with the Vice President as necessary to obtain additional resources to maximize productivity.The Director is responsible for assisting the Vice President in recruiting, managing, and retaining department personnel, including ensuring that his/her team has the right processes and tools to be successful. He/she is accountable for the operating budget of the department, ensuring that personnel utilization is maximized, and project/production-related expenses are minimized. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the oversight of technical evaluations, project management, client management, and administrative support services associated with departmental projects.  Anticipated tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of geotechnical production, including the review and further development of standard operating procedures for department deliverables
  • Accountable for overall performance of departmental production, including technical accuracy and pacing
  • Effectively communicate departmental production expectations and track departmental/individual progress towards productivity goals
  • Provide technical oversight and quality control of all departmental deliverables, providing coaching/training as necessary to improve delivered product, and serving as one of the lead technical resources for junior engineers

Civil Engineer I

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual who will be responsible for assisting in the completion of various civil-site design, environmental, hydrologic/hydraulic, and erosion control related tasks including on-site field inspections; interpretation and evaluation of stormwater, erosion control, and earthwork related issues; site remediation design; rawland civil-site design, co-location telecommunication facility design, environmental report production, and project management coordination of designed projects.

The selected individual will be expected to have the ability to:

  • Working as part of a team under the direct supervision of a project manager or project engineer, the candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, evaluations, computations, and designs generally associated with civil-site engineering discipline, including but not limited to:
    • Completing spatial layout of telecommunication facilities based on governing municipality zoning requirements
    • Completing and optimizing design of telecommunication facilities from an earthwork, drainage, spatial, construction feasibility, and cost-efficiency perspective
    • Completing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations typically associated with roadway drainage systems
    • Performing site design tasks including roadway plan and profile, grading, erosion control, and permitting
    • Preparing and coordinating environmental related services such as Phase I ESAs and NEPAs, including SHPO/THPO consultation, TCNS Public Notifications, etc.
    • Providing CAD support for the candidate’s own designs as well as designs of senior staff
    • Analyzing/evaluating the relationship between stormwater runoff and slope stability

Geotechnical Engineer I

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various geotechnical engineering services, as part of our Geotechnical Engineering Department located in Raleigh, NC. These services include but are not limited to various technical evaluations as well as project management/administrative support services associated with the practice of geotechnical engineering. This position will require zero (0) to seven (7) years of experience within the geotechnical or similar engineering field. Experience with deep and shallow foundations, laboratory soil analyses, and technical reports issuance with limited supervision is a plus.

Under the supervision of senior engineering professionals, the selected individual will be expected to apply strong analytical skills in areas of geotechnical engineering across multiple markets, including the commercial and telecommunications industries. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Soil and rock classification, soil laboratory testing and analysis
  • Technical analyses of earth retention systems
  • Technical analyses of shallow, deep, and specialized foundations
  • Report and supporting document preparation and compilation (for all technical analyses)
  • Providing communication and support services to subcontractor partners
  • Knowledge of Bishop’s Method of Slices and Infinite Slope failure analysis is a plus

Structural Engineer II

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various structural engineering analysis and design services, as part of our Structural Engineering Department located in our Raleigh, NC office.

Under the supervision of Director – Structural Engineering, the selected individual will perform design, computations, and evaluations generally associated with structures, and other aspects of the structural engineering discipline across multiple markets, including the commercial and wireless telecommunications industries. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Structural analysis and design utilizing manual calculations, commercially available programs and in-house tools.
  • Programming in-house tools for analysis / design, calculation and report automation.
  • Providing CAD support for the preparation of structural design drawings, or assisting other departments within the company.
  • Coordination with field personnel for structure mapping and inspection projects.
  • Preparation of engineering reports with recommendations for commercial and telecommunications structures.
  • Review of jurisdictional and/or local governing agency requirements for structural analysis, design and construction.
  • Communication with clients on design needs and production deadlines, under the direction of a Chief Structural Engineer or associated project lead.

Geotechnical Specialist I

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various geotechnical engineering services, as part of our Geotechnical Engineering Department located in Raleigh, NC. These services include but are not limited to field and lab testing of soil and rock, as well as project management/administrative support services associated with the practice of geotechnical engineering. This position will require zero (0) to two(2) years of experience within the geotechnical or similar engineering field. Experience with laboratory soil analyses with limited supervision is a plus.

Project Coordinator - Inspections

Delta Oaks Group is seeking a candidate to coordinate multiple aspects of projects related to remote field inspection teams, including travel logistics, schedule, subcontractors, equipment inventory, and timesheet and expense reporting.  This position provides support to management staff and inspection crews as necessary to complete various services, ensuring customer expectations are met while controlling cost and contributing to company and department profitability.

This position is responsible for supporting our tower infrastructure inspection teams, who travel throughout the United States gathering structural component and foundation data of telecommunication facilities, often in difficult and challenging settings.   The selected individual should be a strong multi-tasker, as field conditions frequently necessitate fast-paced, dynamic work responsibilities to ensure project completion, client satisfaction, and cost efficiency.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are also required, as expedited communication with internal (engineering staff, field inspection teams, management, etc.) and external (subcontractors, clients, travel vendors, etc.) project stakeholders are frequently required.

Duties

  • Proactively track deliverable status, escalating late/delayed project status as required
  • Enter data regarding target and completion dates for field work, project status, and other project management metrics into the company database, addressing and escalating issues as required
  • Ensure time sheets are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Compile/Review/Validate expense reports
  • Coordinate logistics of field crew travel schedules, promoting cost- and schedule efficiency in accordance with company travel expense guidelines

Employee Relations Specialist

Delta Oaks Group is seeking a candidate to facilitate employee relations for our field-based inspection personnel through the betterment of company culture, operational practices, and employee integration. The position will be a part of the Human Resources department, reporting directly to a Managing Partner. The candidate will be tasked with creating and maintaining an equitable balance between office and field personnel, including but not limited to verification of training, ensuring departmental processes are executed, performance/behavior expectations are communicated and company culture is successfully upheld in accordance with Delta Oaks Group policies, vision and mission. Reporting directly to a Managing Partner, this position will be empowered with the opportunity to enact and influence change where necessary. The candidate will be asked to work seamlessly with managers overseeing the communication of technical processes between the office and field personnel. They will have oversight over the day-to-day production of the field personnel to provide essential support by thoroughly and objectively assessing situations as they arise to provide guidance, offer solutions and resolve any conflicts in accordance with the policies and mission of Delta Oaks Group.
